What is required to get a license in Connecticut?
For salespersons:
- Completed and notarized application available on PSI
- Course certificates submitted directly to PSI.
- Classroom course in Real Estate Principles and Practices (60 hours).
- Proof of age 18 and above.
- Fees: Salesperson PSI Exam: 65$

For brokers:
- Completed and notarized application available on PSI
- Course certificates submitted directly to PSI.
- Classroom course in Real Estate Principles and Practices (60 hours).
- Classroom course in Real Estate Brokerage Principles and Practices (15 hours).
- Classroom course in Legal Compliance (15 hours).
- Proof of Legal Presence in U.S.
- Proof of age 18 and above.
- Two (2) -15 hour pre-license elective courses OR One (1) -30 hour pre-license Appraisal course OR evidence of successfully completing at least 20 real estate transactions in the previous 5 years. A transaction is defined as a legal transfer of real property or execution of lease agreement.

What score do I need to pass?
The broker exam consists of 80 national questions and 40 state-specific questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 75% of the questions correctly.
The salesperson exam consists of 80 national questions and 30 state-specific questions. To pass, you must correctly answer at least 70% of the questions correctly.
You will receive your score immediately on your computer screen. If you don´t pass you will receive a diagnostic report indicating strengths and weaknesses.
How much time do I have to complete the exam?
For the broker exam: you are allowed 120 minutes for the national portion and 60 minutes for the state portion, for a total of 180 minutes.
For the salesperson exam: you are allowed 120 minutes for the national portion and 45 minutes for the state portion, for a total of 165 minutes.
What should I bring with me for the exam?
- Identification (Driver’s license, passport, green card, U.S. social security card, debit or credit card).
- Basic (non-scientific) calculator.
